The Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show Review

hello everyone and welcome to the kb radio network and this is a special addition to the kb radio network we're we're not talking movies today we're not talking television shows today we're talking super

bowl halftime performance today this this is this isn't even about the super bowl itself which was a game.

It wasn't a

top 10 i don't even think it's top 20 of super bowls in my humble opinion but congratulations to the seattle seahawks on their victory but but that was pretty much the uh

opening act if you will the main attraction the main event of this past sunday was the super bowl halftime show which was headlined by global Thank you.

superstar bad bunny and bad bunny uh he became the first latino spanish-speaking headliner of the super bowl halftime show bad

bunny being a puerto rican he was the first latino solo artist to do so now we've had latinos or latinas at the halftime show before uh i think shakira

She was a guest,

you know,

did a little cameo.

And

I think Jennifer Lopez as well.

But they weren't the headliners.

This is a headliner to the show.

And I think this was a very important show for a variety of reasons.

Now,

I'm doing this review.

I feel it's only fair.

It's only fair because last year

I did Kindred's review.

of his halftime show and what that sparked and what it did for the black community and i can't speak on the latino community but i can't speak on how it made me feel personally and that's that's the purpose of today's show and

all of the outroar talk a little bit about the the fallout if you will of just him being announced you know we ain't even gonna get to the uh uh

the actual performance just just him being announced was i don't know man the most divisive thing to ever take place i think in recent history i i've known i know of people and i kid you not this is based on a true story that

actually broke up with their significant others because of this halftime show it was a uh young lady who's a latino

And her boyfriend,

I don't I don't know what his ethnicity is right off the bat,

but he wasn't that he's he's not Latino.

He bashed the halftime show and bashed it in a way to whereas he bashed her culture,

the Latino culture.

And it was so bad that they broke up.

And this was a long term relationship that ended because of this halftime show.

Now,

granted...

This was a blessing in disguise for her.

I know she's probably devastated by the end of their relationship.

You know,

rightfully so.

But at the same time,

you've got to look at the bright side of things.

If he felt this way because of the show,

that tells me he always felt that way.

And you didn't need that in your life.

So it all worked out to the good for her.

In the end,

she'll find somebody.

who will appreciate her culture,

who will appreciate her.

Because if he's willing to disrespect her culture and her people,

that pretty much means he feels the same way about you.

You don't need that in your life.

But that's just one example that I know of.

I'm pretty sure there were multiple,

multiple relationship faux pas that happened over this.

It's not over this,

something similar to this.

it.

you know you had nothing to stand on anyway as far as a relationship unfortunately but more on a global or national response level the announcement the announcement of this going all the way back i think in september of last year is when they announced this that

bad bunny will be headlining the event

everybody well let me take that bag i'm embellishing a portion of this country lost their collective minds you would have thought they announced satan to perform a ritual of

a human sacrifice at the halftime show that's the that's the response you got from the conservative side of the owl from a lot of republicans

less melanin people just to put it plainly they were highly upset and this goes back to their leader their cult leader I should say

Trump who when they announced it now you have the economy just going out of control people dying in the streets protests going on and all this other foolishness

he feels the need to chime in on this he called the thing or the announcement absolutely ridiculous why why was it ridiculous why is that ridiculous let me get this out the way let me give you my thoughts on the thing before

we dive into it i'm not going to save it to the end my thoughts on bad bunny performing cool i mean

I'm not going to sit here and say,

oh,

man,

I got all his albums.

That'll be a lie.

That'll be a bald-faced lie.

I know a couple of songs from Bad Bunny.

You know,

and mainly I know Bad Bunny from

WWE because I'm a wrestling fan.

And he has popped up.

I think he was at WrestleMania a couple of times.

He was at a PLE in Puerto Rico one time,

which was fire.

He had a match with Damian Priest.

But that's a whole nother.

thing and he can actually wrestle he actually did it he can wrestle and he can act seen him in a few movies seen him in bullet train he was cool in that he was in a happy gilmore too and that movie is not all that good but he was good in it he was in uh oh what was that film with austin butler it came out last year called

stealing he was in that pretty good he is a good actor everything he's

Everything he does.

He's good at it.

And I like his music.

His music,

I like the vibe.

I really do.

I love the vibe of his music.

I'm a music person.

I love music.

I love all genres of music.

I even like some country music.

Don't like some country stars,

but I like some country music.

I listen to all forms of music.

I love that.

I love that kind of Caribbean

Latino style that he brings.

I'm

I'm familiar with it.

Growing up in my hometown,

you know,

I grew up around a big Latino presence.

You know,

not a huge.

They weren't the majority by no stretch,

but they were prominent where I grew up.

And so

I listened to a lot.

My best friend is Honduran.

I was around it a lot growing up.

And so I listened to that music and it was cool.

You know,

so Bad Bunny,

he has some bops.

He has.

he has some bangers and i understand why he is a global superstar and i didn't see the problem even if i wasn't a bad bunny fan i didn't see a problem who cares it's a halftime show how many halftime shows have we sat that were completely horrible there

were some bad halftime shows before it really started to ramp up what about

20 years ago maybe

at when when after after janet jackson showed her boobie that was that's when it really started to ramp up but before that it was it wasn't all that great yeah you sprinkle in michael jackson had a fire michael jackson was was the beast he set the bar when

he when he did the halftime show uh i don't know how long it was about 30 years ago um and just

Stole the show.

I don't even remember who played that game.

That's how gangster

Michael Jackson was.

Of course,

it was Michael Jackson.

Prince.

Prince is my all-time favorite.

That was my all-time favorite show.

Halftime show.

I love Prince.

You know,

I'm a little biased there because I'm a big Prince fan.

But he put on a show.

Dr.

Dre and the whole West Coast came out.

That was a good show.

They have some good shows.

Beyonce put on a good show.

Katy Perry.

Katy Perry had a good show.

It was decent.

I wouldn't put her on the Mount Rushmore of Super Bowl halftime performances,

but it was good.

So we've had some good shows.

But prior to that,

like in the

80s and 90s,

it was pretty dry.

It was pretty dry.

I finally remember.

And the only reason I remember this is because my favorite team lead in the Super Bowl that year,

the New Orleans Saints.

first and only time so far uh in that super bowl you know who the halftime show was the who i have no idea who the who was still don't know who the who is but they were the halftime show and

it was boring because i'm not a who fan i know there's a lot of people who probably are a fans of the who good on them but not me but

Luckily for me,

I could care less for that particular Super Bowl because my team was in the Super Bowl.

And thank God they won it.

And so it is it is different taste.

You know,

it does music.

Everything ain't for everybody.

And so I didn't understand the vitriol when the who was announced for the Super Bowl back in 2009.

I didn't protest.

I'm not watching it.

I don't listen to that.

I'm going to put on my own halftime show.

You know,

it was none of that.

It was none of that.

We had it.

And the show was over.

And the second half began for the game.

Nobody cared.

But we fast forward to 2026.

And racism is at its peak,

man.

Well,

let me tell you.

Let me clean that up.

Let me clean that up for you.

It's not at its peak.

Racism has always been at its peak.

Racism is just more out there now.

It's not hidden.

It's not behind the scenes.

People don't hide behind keyboards like they used to anymore.

People don't keep it to themselves.

They don't sugarcoat it.

There's no more passive aggressive approach to racism.

It is full blown racism.

They're going to say what they want.

however they want to say it and to whoever they want to say it to the point blank period you have a whole president having a former president in a meme look him and his wife as a monkey and it's like okay that's

where we at now this is this is where we at and so the fact that trump didn't like it didn't shock me but the fact that he just actively Lee

rejected the idea of bad bunny performing and then his cronies his little cult followers just followed along and said that was it's a massive mistake why would they choose why would they choose a

non-american to perform at the super bowl halftime show and i'm looking around i think back i think back

I think back to when I was in the third grade and I don't know why this stick.

Well,

I do know why it's traumatizing to a degree,

but I don't know why it's just at the forefront of my brain.

In third grade,

I remember a teacher asking the class what century we lived in.

And at the time,

it was the 20th century.

And I raised my hand.

I said the 20th.

Well,

everybody said the

19th century,

being as though it was 1980 whenever.

you

I said it was the 20th.

The only one in the class who said it was the 20th.

I'm like,

oh man,

I'm the only one that got it right.

The teacher said I was wrong.

And I was,

my mind blew.

I just couldn't,

I couldn't believe it.

And the whole class just jumped on.

And it was like,

it was,

it was Kevin.

Kevin's an idiot.

Kevin's in the wrong class.

He shouldn't be in this class.

That has,

that has.

literally stuck to me or stuck with me till this day and i can't get oh i can't shake it because i have yet to get an apology i have yet to hear that oh kevin you was right now grant has been 40 years but i mean my god man it's i need validation that i was right but

all those kids were led wrong by those teachers i say all that to say this number one

Puerto Rico is part of the United States.

It's a United States territory.

And that's how I was looking.

when when they said that and i got flashbacks to be sitting in that class where all those kids were saying 19th century we are in the 19th century and i'm looking around like am i the only one and just so happened i was the only one and now you

know when this was going on when this narrative was being spread i'm like am i the only one that knows this that puerto rico is a part of the United States.

Finally,

people started saying it,

you know,

those of us with sense,

and folks still wouldn't accept it.

With all that being said,

even if it wasn't,

even if Bad Bunny isn't a United States citizen,

here's the thing.

U2 was a headliner at the Super Bowl.

They're from Ireland.

Coldplay,

the Rolling Stones.

Paul McCartney,

they headlined the Super Bowl.

They're from the UK.

Just a few years ago,

The Weeknd headlined the Super Bowl halftime show.

He's from Canada.

You didn't hear none,

none of this vitriol about non-American performers.

But being as though Bad Bunny is a Latino and we're in the midst of this hate.

brown people stage here in the united states it's it's like a slap in the face it's an attack on ice but part of that part of that hatred towards him part of that hate him being bad bunny is the fact that he

canceled his tour in north america he canceled his tour dates in the united states and i think in canada as well because he didn't want ice

to come to his shows and take the patrons,

take those who are attending the concert.

So to protect his people,

he canceled the tour.

Now,

that is sacrifice that is not celebrated enough.

At least not,

it's probably celebrated in his culture,

with his people,

but not amongst others.

uh the black community the white community whoever all these communities need to be celebrating this man for making that supreme sacrifice because he lost millions of dollars by doing this but he was willing to lose billions

of dollars to protect his people now is bad bunny hurting for money i don't think so i don't think he's hurting for a dime of that But

I mean,

come on,

man.

Come on.

This dude lost millions of dollars for that cause.

My hat truly goes out to him,

man.

That is phenomenal.

Because I don't know.

I don't know if I would do that if I was a performing artist.

I'll be honest.

I don't know if I could,

man.

That would be,

that's huge.

That is huge.

And if you don't think that's huge,

man,

just.

Just look up Bad Bunny's numbers,

concert sellouts,

and all this here.

Money.

Money that he left on the table.

But diving into this show.

Now,

I was going to try to do this whole show without talking about this Turning Point USA halftime alternative thing.

the quote-unquote all-american halftime show that they put on simultaneously as the super bowl halftime show to counter the uh bad bunny and i can't you know i can't i can't not talk about it because

i i've dedicated the last what year or so not talking about this administration and i know i'm losing a lot of views and listens because of that

But once again,

that's the sacrifice I'm willing to make because I'm not

I'm not giving these people energy.

You know,

I'm not raising my blood pressure up.

It's a lot of things that come up.

I wanted to talk about,

but I just couldn't.

I couldn't bring myself to do it.

I honestly couldn't bring myself to do it.

But this is so ridiculous here that I have no choice but to talk about these people.

They are so blatantly racist and dumb.

Of course,

you can't be racist without being dumb.

So it goes without saying that is dumb.

But to put on a halftime show,

this alternative halftime show and call it all American and blatantly divide this country.

The country's already divided the country.

Let's keep it a buck here.

The country has always been divided.

Now,

the only question is,

is it divided by two,

three,

four or five?

That's the only question.

But the question.

that this is not is nothing united about the united states for all of all of my international listeners there's nothing united about this country there's the haves and the have-nots the blacks and the whites the browns in the the uh

uh other browns there's colorism there's blacks versus blacks there you know it's it's it's never united here is nothing.

Democrats have reported

Republicans,

liberals,

and conservatives.

It's ridiculous.

It's always a fight.

It's always a fight,

and it doesn't need to be a fight.

Just like this.

This didn't need to be.

What was the point of putting on another halftime show just to counter-program the halftime show that's on?

I mean,

honestly,

ask yourself the question.

Ask yourself,

what was so offensive?

about watching that halftime show what did bad bunny do that was so offensive or what would well you don't know because you didn't watch you don't even know what he was going to do or what were you so afraid of that he was going to say or do now

you don't know what he was going to say because nobody knew what he was going to say that's not a latino because i watched the whole halftime show and didn't understand one word

That came out of his mouth.

But I enjoyed the heck out of it.

It didn't matter.

I didn't need to understand what he had to say.

It wasn't for me.

That wasn't for me.

That was for his people.

That was for his culture.

Shouldn't they have that moment?

Blacks had theirs.

We've had multiple moments.

We've had Kendrick.

We've had Beyonce.

We've had multiple artists.

from our culture to get up there and speak to us,

speak,

speak to us.

You know,

that was for us.

It was

I equated to watching Black Panther for the first time.

The first Black Panther with Chadwick Boseman,

God rest his soul.

Going to the theater and watching that movie is one of the greatest moments of my life.

Man,

I'm getting I'm getting goosebumps now thinking about I will never forget it.

I would never forget the moment of walking into that theater and walking out of that theater with tears in my eyes,

just running down my face,

didn't care who was watching me because I've been waiting for this moment my entire life.

And to finally get it was the greatest joy I have ever received.

I didn't get that when Obama won the presidency.

I didn't feel like it.

you know okay we got a black president good now do the job but this when it came to black panther that representation something that i've been craving for for my entire life yeah i forgot we had blade as a superhero on the big screen but that's blade he's a vampire or

at least half vampire you know but to have a proper superhero on the big screen and it was just

the greatest joy and a comic that i read coming up oh my god it just i still i still can't get over it to this day it still brightens up my heart i watched it not too long ago i make it a habit to watch it at least once a year since

it came out i even watched the second one and i didn't enjoy the second one as much as the first but that's neither here nor there the point i'm trying to make is the Black Panther even though globally

I think,

what,

90%

of people love that movie.

Black,

white,

it didn't matter.

Everybody loved Black Panther.

But that movie wasn't for everybody,

per se.

It was for us,

the black community.

And we received it.

That movie made over a billion dollars.

A billion dollars.

Now,

same thing for the Latino culture,

for the Latino community.

That's who this was for.

And I respected that.

I respect that to the highest level.

they deserve it why can't they get their moment but for some strange reason there is a contingence of people in this country six million 6.1 million to be exact who felt and that's just a low ball number because that's who watched who that's how many people actually watched that

stupid uh halftime show they put on they felt they didn't deserve that moment and they they didn't deserve their time.

for 13 minutes because that's how long that halftime show was

13 minutes you couldn't you couldn't just mute it you couldn't just go to the bathroom take that time for the halftime show to run to the store and grab you some more chips grab you another six pack or something and then come back for the second half it

was no need to rush because the game was dry and so it wasn't it wasn't like he was going to miss anything.

So I don't

understand why this was so offensive to these people and why are they actively dividing this country even more than it already is but

that's on them as far as the real super bowl halftime show with bad bunny i thought it was phenomenal i thought it was very poignant like i said it's not in my top 10 per se but i

I get it and I respect it and I loved it for what it was.

That show was phenomenal.

He put on a show that was very,

very good.

Did he play his bangers?

He didn't play not one song that I knew.

Now,

shockingly to me,

to my surprise,

my daughter knew every song.

She was sitting there literally mouthing off the words to the song.

I don't know.

I didn't know she spoke Spanish,

but she was.

She was she was rolling with those songs.

She loved Bad Bunny.

Who knew?

But me?

No,

I didn't know any of those songs.

The few songs that I did know,

he didn't play.

He didn't perform.

But

I did.

I was loving the vibe of it.

I love the performance.

I love the message that he was sending.

The the one thing that that did kind of throw me.

And I think a lot of people fell for this.

I thought the little boy that he gave the Grammy to was the five-year-old boy that was detained by ICE.

And don't get me started on that.

But no,

it wasn't.

It wasn't that little boy.

That was an actor.

And the whole purpose of that,

that little boy was representing him as a little boy watching the Grammys and one day dreaming of winning Grammys.

And he actually won Grammys this year.

Album of the Year.

First Latino star to do that as well.

But that was to represent,

you know,

go after your dreams.

And I love that.

The wedding that took place in the middle of the performance was an actual real wedding.

Those people really got married on the biggest stage of it all.

The- the-

nucleus of that was that couple invited Bad Bunny to their wedding in Puerto Rico.

But he was busy,

of course,

you know,

global superstar.

So he couldn't he couldn't do it.

But as a consolation prize,

he said,

well,

I can't come to your wedding.

But what I'm going to do,

I'm going to bring your wedding with me.

And he brought them to.

the Super Bowl halftime show to have their wedding.

Man,

this dude is phenomenal.

That dude is gay.

I can't even front.

Bad Bunny is a beast for that.

List of cameos we had throughout the performance.

We saw Lady Gaga.

We saw Ricky Martin,

man.

Ricky Martin still looks the same.

He still living La Vida Loca.

He looks deep.

I mean,

man,

that is a...

I'm not gay,

but that's a good looking man.

I was like,

man,

go ahead,

Ricky.

Ricky still looks the same after all of these years.

Cameos who didn't actually perform,

but were out there with

Bad Bunny.

We saw

Jessica Alba.

We saw the actress Jessica Alba.

We saw Cardi B.

We saw Pedro Pascal.

Carol G.

All of these.

of actors and performers,

not Puerto Rican,

but of the Latino community.

And the whole purpose of that was to show that this wasn't just for Puerto Rico,

where he's from,

even though he deeply represented Puerto Rico.

But this is for all the Latino community,

for all nations in the Americas,

which,

oh,

my God.

When he did that part,

I stood up and clapped.

I was like.

Finally,

somebody says it.

Somebody said the quiet part out loud.

When folks walk around here,

talk about this is America.

This America,

this is my country.

America isn't a country.

America is a continent.

North America and South America.

We all want.

This country is the United States of America.

Canada is America.

The United States is America.

Mexico is part of America.

Cuba.

They're all in that same realm.

But when he came down and you saw all the flags representing the different countries,

we saw representation of

Argentina,

Bolivia, Peru,

Ecuador,

Brazil,

Colombia,

Venezuela,

Honduras.

Salvador,

I mean,

all the Dominican Republic.

I think I even saw a Jamaican flag.

I could have been wrong.

But I think I saw a Jamaican flag in there.

But all of the flags were represented together.

And when he held the ball,

he held the football throughout the performance.

And when he showed the football to the camera,

on the ball written was,

Together,

we are America.

and bro i mean how can you not feel that how can you not feel that we are all together we all want we are all the same people and it's sickening bro it's really sickening that

america see got me saying it i've been trained for years but any who's that the united states feel that they run everything we don't run nothing

We can't even run ourselves.

But for some strange reason,

we think we run everything.

We are all one,

man.

And if we could actually get together as one,

first start just here in the United States.

Just start here,

trying to rebuild relations.

Try to get the communities to be as one.

Then we can reach out to other nations.

Then we can reach out to Mexico,

you know,

Canada,

and all of these other countries that are close to Zennity in this continent and become one.

Then you can be the most powerful nation in the world.

Not now.

Now we're public enemy number one.

And it's sad,

bruh.

It's sad that an artist has to perform at a halftime show.

and have a political message like this and it's not really a political message it is shaped up to be a political message by the far right but it's really just a human message we're together we're

all human beings i don't care what your nationality is what your ethnicity is what your sexuality is we're all human beings and it's sad bro it's just sad to think

that this performance got poo-pooed on by people who got their heads stuck so far up their behinds that they can't see the forest for the trees,

that they can't see that they are the minority and not the majority,

which was shown in the ratings.

The performance for the

Super Bowl halftime show for Bad Bunny.

I think reached a viewership number of one.

I saw two different numbers.

I saw 134,

134 million,

and then I saw a number for 128 million.

I don't know which one it is.

Either way,

it is pretty high.

Either way,

it has some good numbers.

But it's definitely better than Turning Point Halftime Show,

which only had

6 million viewership.

Who wants to watch Kid Rock?

I didn't like Kid Rock when he was relevant.

Number one,

the number one,

he he started off as a rapper.

So he he's a culture poacher.

And now now all of a sudden he's this whatever he is,

whatever.

But I don't like never did.

So none of this shocks me how Kid Rock is.

But in any event,

for those of you,

for those of you out there who may be listening,

I don't know why you are.

but i'm happy here uh thank you for checking out the show who who support this crap with uh turning point and the trump coat if you if first and foremost if you got offended about me calling

you dumb and stupid and all this here i'm not sorry about that but i'll say this much i would say you're not as dumb as your president because he's the dumbest person ever

But being as though he is the dumbest person ever,

that makes all of you who support him even dumber.

While all of y'all were running out there and supporting this halftime show because Trump said,

you know,

Bad Bunny is ridiculous and not watching it and all this here.

You know who watched the halftime show and immediately tweeted out about it?

Donald Trump.

And so he didn't even watch the all American halftime show.

He was watching bad bunny because he was sitting there tweeting or,

whatever social net network he's on or whatever.

He called it terrible.

One of the worst shows ever.

The,

the,

the women dancing was disgusting.

we shouldn't show that to our children and all this here.

Really,

Donald,

really you.

you're trying to protect the children all of a sudden president pet pedophile i just found that really really funny that that was the most hilarious thing to come out of that entire entire sunday was

his reaction to the super bowl halftime show immediately i would i would have accepted it more had it been the next day you know because he

At least he could say I didn't watch it live or something like that.

No,

the second half of the game was starting and he was tweeting,

which tells me he watched it live.

This dude is so much of a hypocrite and a liar and people just fall for it every single time.

Everything that come out of his mouth is gospel.

It is so scary that y'all look at this band like,

God,

my goodness,

man.

But with all that being said,

the Bad Bunny halftime show,

I believe,

was a triumph,

a very,

very well produced,

well choreographed,

very poignant halftime show that.

Yes,

it was political,

but it wasn't political.

You know,

it was entertaining and it showcased the Latin culture.

And I think that's what really that's the one thing that really came home for me.

Yes.

The message of unity and love was there.

It was prevalent and it needed to be there.

But the showcase of the community was so beautiful because it just shows that.

they aren't just you know trash people that they are being depicted at they aren't just criminals and murderers and rapists as they're being described on the news and all this here they are people

just like me and you just like when i see my culture the black community showcased in the spotlight like that it brings joy to my heart you know

with all of these communities that are underrepresented in the spotlight,

it's great to see them get their moment of shine.

And I'm happy for the Latino community that they finally got their moment.

And I pray that this isn't the last.

I deeply enjoyed.
